In 1964, to promote their brand new electromechanical watch movement powered by a battery, Fred LIP came up with the idea of creating the "After-Sales Service" watch. When a customer brought their mechanical LIP watch to an authorized dealer for maintenance, they were lent a LIP watch with a dial marked "SAV - YOUR WATCHMAKER LENDS YOU THE TIME" and equipped with the new electromechanical movement during the revision period.

This allowed customers to experience the precision and ease of use of this revolutionary movement that operated with a battery. The marketing campaign quickly ended, though, as many customers were so satisfied with this model that they forgot to retrieve their watches from LIP dealers.

Highly sought after by collectors because it was officially unavailable on the market, the LIP SAV is now being reintroduced by the brand in the same configuration as the original 1964 model.
